BARR TRAIL MOUNTAIN RACE

On the trail up the hill through the woods to Barr Camp we go! 9th Annual Barr Trail Mountain Race will be run on Sunday, July 17, 2005. Registration will begin in May of 2006. 100 percent of proceeds are donated to local non/profit and/or volunteer organizations and to five area high schools.

Race to the Clouds! Second oldest auto race in the U.S. this is the 86th year! Pikes Peak Highway to the top of Pikes Peak (14,110 feet). Entrance 5 miles west of Manitou Springs. Pre-race activities and qualifications in the days preceeding the race. Come join the excitement!

2008 US Senior Open Golf Championship at The Broadmoor
The U.S. Senior Open will feature 156 of the world's best professional and amateur senior golfers (age 50 and over). Players expected to compete include:

A unique fundraising event that encourages registered participants to experience the excitement and success of hiking to the summit of Pikes Peak. Survivors of brain injury, family and community supporters start their ascent at the base of Barr Trail in Manitou Springs. This magnificent 14,110 foot mountain crests the summit after 13.5 miles and 7400 vertical feet to the cheers of spectators and supporters. Come experience the challenges of this with survivors of Traumatic Brain Injury and their families. Fundraising proceeds benefit the Brain Injury Association of Colorado and Memorial Hospital's Think First for Kids Head & Spinal Cord Injury Prevention programs. EMMA CRAWFORD'S VICTORIAN WAKE

In 1889 Emma Crawford came to Manitou Springs in search of her health. It was her desire that she would benefit from the crisp mountain air and Manitou Springs famous mineral waters. Sadly Emma succumbed to her illness and as she wished was laid to rest on top of Red Mountain when years later her coffin washed down the granite cliff. Admission includes entrance into Miramont Castle, Victorian wake and among the other guests include Buffalo Bill Cody and his wife, Lillian Russell (aka Diamond Lil), Dr. Davis and of course the original Miramont Castle residents Father Francolon and his mother Madam Marie Francolon. The event is graced in pure Victorian splendor and you will enjoy Victorian food and beverage in the great hall. Space is limited and reservations are required.
